The perfect combination of sound and performance
Channel Classics Records is a quality record label based in Holland. Director, producer and recording engineer is Jared Sacks. Having grown up in Boston Massachusetts, schooled at Oberlin Conservatory and the Amsterdam Conservatory of music with 15 years experience playing French Horn, Jared decided to make his hobby of recording a profession in 1987. The label started in 1990 with the name Channel Classics coming from the street he lived on in Amsterdam. (Kanaalstraat)...
Jared and his Dutch wife Lydi Groenewegen together with a group of assistants work closely with distributors in 38 countries to promote the artists through the CD’s. Since 2000, Channel has been releasing CD's in the Hybrid Super Audio format
Equipment
Channel uses high quality power- and microphone cables made by Van Den Hul. There are several different microphone brands in use such as Schoeps, Bruel & Kjaer, DPA and AKG. Channel employs different analogue to digital converters, and digital to analogue converters, made by Grimm Audio and Meitner/EmmLabs. The mixing boards are custom designed and built by Rens Heijnis. Today's editing software is developed by Pyramix engineering.
About DSD
Since February 2012, you can purchase all of our SACD releases in 2-channel DSD format. You can find this catalogue here. And since the spring of 2013, you can even purchase releases in multichannel DSD format, which you can find here. Also, with every DSD purchase, you get the mp3-files of the chosen music for free.
Very few record labels offer their catalogue in DSD format, at Channel Classics we're always on the forefront in our approach within the music industry. We believe DSD is the next step.
For those who are not familiar with DSD audio: it's a one bit, 2.8MHz audio format and the closest digital representation of acoustic sounds available. For more in-depth information about DSD, we recommend this explanatory article from Positive Feedback.
