Hi-Res Downloads in Japan

hires_Japan_01

All the way to Japan...

People have said to each other (with me in the loop sometimes)...what is he talking about? Hi-Res (high resolution audio) has caught a lot of new ears lately. Why?
The simple and maybe the only answer is, because it sounds better. Why is that important? That's up to anyone to decide for themselves. But there are lots of memories shared by many recalling days of sitting down in front of a hi-fi setup, alone or in groups to "pour over" an album or two or three...sometimes into the wee hours...

These listening sessions are great examples of answers to the why question above.
What if you could hear the studio master tape of Nat King Cole or Gram Parsons? Wouldn't that be worth sitting down to listen to?
So I have been very interested in being part of better sound on recordings since hearing it digitally for the first time. I read someone's statement the other day that music was simply for enjoyment. Exactly so IMO...
