Monthly Meeting ACA at Aurion Image & SoundRelatively few people dare to show hard core enthusiasts, anything out of the norm, or lower than normal budget solutions, and actually get away with it so successfully. John Demos, otherwise knows as Quad Father, for his continuous development in the specific brand and in many others, gave us a taste of the world on the evening he invited ACA members to join him for a short listening session. Short meaning hours and not days, because if it was up to us, it would have kept on going throughout the night.
As a matter of fact, there was a percussionist from the National Orchestra of Greece also on the premises to take in some of the aura John had set up, or the opposite, which could have and was more likely to happen. When we talk to natural phenomenal musicians, (as they are regarded in most circles) it is hard to argue that what they hear, and we hear in reproduction has anything to do with each other, yet this percussionist, actually yearned to hear how the clear reproduction came to fruition, having heard many systems before and having felt very upset with what she had heard. So, to be honest, the truth, in my mind, still remains that someone who knows bass more than anyone of us, was actually acknowledging the bass as correct, tonally and pitch wise, from what was set up for us.
She was a bit taken away from the cable set up which seemed to be a bit scary, (and to think of it, with the amount of grounding done, who wouldn’t be looking at it like it was from outer space-especially with that blue hue light it has showing off what lies within it. The glass on the top only leaves us more in awe as we here clear unadulterated bass. From speakers which have woofers smaller than most good car audio setups have, and at a cost of a fraction of what most of us spend on cables alone!
The equipment is mentioned below, what I wanted to focus on was the outcome. The systems set up, were not presented to awe us, but to show us how Quads, yes, the old 57 and 63 series, which were back in the day the ultimate, for any musician or music lover, to today’s wonderful technological advances hi-end has come to fruition with. He gave us a lesson and it only could have come from John Demos.
