By Kyriakos Kougioumtzoglou and Manos Bitsakakis Monthly Meeting ACA at Tasos SyrigosHard to imagine that anyone could go to the hosts home and not have a good time. If we include Maria, his spouse and the kids, then we have nothing else but the best place to be, with the best representative of what the Audiophile Club of Athens has to offer. I mean, if its not Tasos, then who is it that spreads the music as much as he does? He knows every recording ever made, every one that is hidden, and even how it sounds, how and when it was made. It is astonishing that we have an audiophile that cares more about the music and the fun than the machines themselves. Which takes Tasos to a level few can in life. Most of us own hundreds of thousands of equipment and fight things to the end to get the best out of every inch of cable or metal, yet Tasos and Maria prefer to have it simply play wonderfully and then experience the music. They are everything but snobby audiophiles which some of us might be at times. As a matter of fact, that might even include myself at times.
It is a really hard decision, in the middle of the hot Greek summer for someone in a wonderful Saturday afternoon to leave behind the cool sea breeze and drive downtown in a city house for auditioning music... But if that place belongs to someone that got the music and the vinyl records so well and also got a brilliant-sounding system, this could be a very good idea... So, that particular Saturday afternoon instead of prepare myself for sea-shore clubbing, I drove north to Tasos place!! Tasos, having been involved for so many years with music and especially with vinyl records, as a professional but also a hobbyist, he has got the ability to ‘drive’ his audience to absolute highest levels of music pleasure and enjoyment during the auditions sections in his place... In Tasos place someone can relax and feel comfortable by the fact of listening to scarce hard to find vinyl records, both audiophile and also paired with plenty of musical value... Talking about the ‘hardware’, (if anyone but me as an Information Technologies authentist can call that way the great audition system), host plays in the hot way field of hand-made tubes amplification married with excellent German semi-horn speakers, the Blumenhofers Big Fun 20... Friendly atmosphere, Fun, Joy, nice sipping and much sophisticated musical choices are the principles of someone being for audition in Tasos place... For all that good stuff, Tasos guideline is his knowledge and loving to the music and the vinyl records... Regarding the music itself, in the beginning of the main audition and system presentation section, we were listened to some more audiophile selections, after this section Tasos begun to play all that brilliant stuff the way he knows, all that lovely songs and also excellent sounding music... In my humble and personal opinion this time the music was more detailed and accurate, but not so musical and involving like the last time in Tasos place... The System..
The presentation program in order..Tasos had some interesting music for us tonight. Some special recordings of his choice and it was no surprise I for one was anxious to hear what he planned out for us. The attending fellow ACA members were taken to a music trip with classic, pop and rock tracks chosen by Tasos. 1 to 8 excellent selected auditions we listened at Tasos place 1. O.S.T. The EndingI would like to thank the host for the music trip and the hospitality. A special thank to his wife Maria for an evening of exceptional Mexican taste. It was a very nice and relaxing evening for any music lover and one more event with ACA buddies.
