The Beatles "On Air- Live at the BBC Volume 2" on 3 Vinyl LPs
Between 1982 and Capitol/Apple’s 1994 release of the original The Beatles Live at the BBC (C1724383179619 2 LPs, cassette, CD) the BBC broadcast annual Beatles specials that included the music the group performed on the British radio institution between 1962 and 1965.

Help Get The Vinyl LP Inducted Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Maybe Win This Led Zep Box Set!
The vinyl record should be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, don't you think? It, more than the 78, the cassette, the CD and especially the MP3, is responsible for the growth and success of Rock'n'Roll.

ORG Announces Three New Non-Classical Double 45s Coming Spring 2014
ORG recently announced three new double 45s mastered by Bernie Grundman from original analogue master tapes.

Deptford Goth's "Life After Defo" Will Make You Happily Sad
I don't know what "defo" is, but judging by this record, life after it is achingly melancholic. Actually after writing that I did a web search and learned that "defo" means something like "certainty".

The In The Groove Record Cleaning Roller
Got pets that shed? You probably have at least one of those pet hair removing rollers with the split replaceable sticky roller. The In the Groove roller is similar except the roller, manufactured from a patented sticky material is said to be good forever.

New TechDAS Air Force Two Turntable Coming to America Soon!
Thanks to my old pal Ken Kessler who recently visited the Tokyo TechDAS factory, here's a photo he took of the new TechDAS Air Force Two turntable. The price is said to be "1/3 that of the Air Force One". According to Kessler, an Air Force Three "may be coming next year."

More Video From The 10th Annual Manila Hi-Fi Show
Not as much going on in this video but I had the footage so decided to post it. When I watched it on YouTube an ad appeared for typhoon relief. Please consider helping. The above shot was taken at a Filipino crafts store believe it or not. Most of the gear is classic vintage gear but note the round Musical Fidelity tube buffer (I think!)

Want to Buy a Used Record Store? One's For Sale on Ebay!
Tim Derbyshire opened On The Beat Records in 1979 on Hanway Street, near Tottenham Court Road in London. Now he's put it up for sale on Ebay. Asking price: 300,000 pounds.

The Tenth Annual Manila Hi-Fi Show
The Tenth Annual Manila Hi-Fi Show took place November 9th and 10th against a back-drop of an impending Typhoon. The multi-island nation has been hit by such storms before, but never one this big.

Analogplanet Interviews Producer/Arranger/Musician John Simon (Corrected Introduction)
I drove to record producer and musician John Simon’s Catskill mountaintop home on a gorgeous, unusually mild November 1st. Simon is best known for producing Songs of Leonard Cohen, BS&T’s Child is Father to the Man, Big Brother and the Holding Company’s Cheap Thrills and of course The Band albums Music From Big Pink, The Band and The Last Waltz.

Analogplanet.com Visits VPI Industries Part 1
The editor visited VPI Industries today. The original purpose was to tour the factory and pick up a new VPI Direct Drive turntable for review. However, a minor modification to the turntable not yet accomplished has pushed back the delivery date a week. So we left "empty handed" but the visit was rewarding nonetheless.

Analogplanet.com Visits VPI Industries Part 2
In Part 2 of our VPI Industries factory tour we see, among other things, the inner workings of VPI's radical new direct drive motor and we learn of Classic and Traveler turntable running production changes and something new on the VPI horizon. Harry Weisfeld extols the virtues of reel to reel tape and I defend vinyl.

Analogplanet.com Visits VPI Industries Part 3
In the short concluding video of our visit to VPI, Harry Weisfeld shows us his listening room and talks honestly about the costs involved in manufacturing the new direct drive turntable as well as final pricing realities.

Lou Reed Dead at 71: A Not Very Perfect Day
Lou Reed died today. Not a good day. The cause of death has not been revealed but Reed had a liver transplant last year. He built a full musical life around two chords, maybe three. You could play the obvious to honor him but "Walk on the Wild Side" was a mere footnote in a great and influential career.

"Tapestry" at 45rpm Forty Plus Years Later Sounding Better Than Ever
In 1972 and '73 you'd hear this classic album playing in every hippie crash pad and college dorm room in America. It was a "chick" album guys could dig. Her friend James Taylor had encouraged the veteran song writer to sing her own songs.
