New "Deluxe" and "Super Deluxe" Editions of The Who's "Tommy" Coming From Universal
On November 12th Universal will release numerous versions of The Who's Tommy, including "Deluxe" as well as "Super Deluxe" editions as well as the original configuration on double 180g vinyl. The press release doesn't divulge the vinyl source, who mastered or who is pressing.

You may never have heard of Mike Spitz, but more than likely you've heard his work. Spitz was an analog tape recorder specialist whose company ATR Services serviced and restored reel to reel tape recorders found in many of the world's great recording studios and mastering facilities.

Exhibitors at The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and at RMAF have been using reel to reel tape as source material. Some use Tape Project tapes, which we know are copies of copies of actual master tapes licensed by and supplied by the record labels. Yarlung is also doing this using masters of self-produced and recorded material.

After steam cleaning the flood damaged record (see 'Can Steam Save This Record?") I used Audio Intelligent Enzymatic Cleaning Fluid and the Loricraft cleaning machine. I chose that one because only a small length of thread touches the record during the vacuuming process. The thread is refreshed with each cleaning.
