"Dazed and Confused"--LAAS Audio Show Cancelled (And Not Due to Lack of Interest!)
This morning the Los Angeles Audio Show scheduled for June 8th-10th at the Hilton Irvine Hotel was suddenly and without warning cancelled via a somewhat bizarre email show organizer Marine de Rogez-Presson sent to participants.

Wilson Audio Specialties "Gets Small" With TuneTot
"TuneTot", is a new Wilson Audio Specialties product that will launch May 10th during High End Munich. That and the above image are all that can be said at this time about "TuneTot" other than it is not for babies, is not related to TaterTots, is not a pair of headphones, is not made in China, does not slice, dice, chop, grind or peel and will not give your children great haircuts or put a fishing rod in your pocket.

Loricraft's "String" Based Record Cleaning Machine
This video was shot a few weeks ago. The editing was completed today, the day SME announced it had purchased Garrard and Loricraft. Just a coincidence but a neat one! For those who don't know: Loricraft's Terry O'Sullivan is a Garrard 301/401 idler wheel drive expert who rebuilds and restores them for customers world wide.

SME Limited Acquires Legendary Turntable Manufacturer Garrard Audio
SME Limited announced today that it had acquired Garrard from Gradiente Electronics of Brazil, which in 1979 had acquired the brand name. In addition, SME announced it had acquired Loricraft Audio founded by Terry O'Sullivan who set up shop in Lambourn, West Berkshire close to Garrard's original Swindon manufacturing site.

A "Clamp On" Solution For the Denon 103's Too Flimsy Mounting Arrangement
The longevity of Denon's 103 cartridge series, first introduced in the 1960's and still in production speaks to the design's enduring popularity. The design's weak point is its flimsy mounting system. As my colleague Art Dudley put it in the December 2007 issue of Stereophile: "The most common complaint about the DL-103 is also the truest: Its good motor is compromised by a too-flimsy mounting arrangement, with open-edge bolt channels that prevent the cartridge from being rigidly fastened to a head shell."
