Sibling Rivalry or Twaddle?
A Friend pointed me to this article titled "The Art of Listening: Your Guide to Evaluating Speakers" authored by Daniel Kumin and published on our sister site Sound & Vision, wherein he states...

Music Heals
We know this, right? If you have your doubts and would like some proof, here's a nice healthy helping; "How Music Can Help Patients Recover From Surgery And Strokes". This link, which reader CG shared, will bring you to a web page that includes an excerpt from Waking The Spirit: A Musician's Journey Healing Body, Mind, and Soul by Andrew Schulman as well a 40+ minute discussion among several authorities on this subject.

Lovely Recordings Hosted by Aaron Garrett (Part 2)
Beginning in the late 1960s and 1970s a wave of new traditional music spread over the world. Spurred in part by The Band, musicians that were originally more rock oriented embraced trad and trad musicians played with a different kind of drive.

Merging Technologies NADAC
The Ravenna IP technology allows for syncing of multiple audio devices over Ethernet using the Precision Time Protocol (PPT) achieving clock accuracy "in the sub-microsecond range". This comes in handy in recording studios where Merging Technologies got its start, and earned its reputation, back in 1990 in Chexbres, Switzerland.

The Barn: Connectivity (rev 1.)
Already? Yes, already. Someone, let's call him the Noise Whisperer, put this thought in my head, "Move the switch to before the TP-Link." So I did. I made this tiny change, moving an Ethernet cable from the Ethernet switch to the TP-Link, thus bypassing the switch, when a friend was over.

Lovely Recordings Hosted by Reed Hellman
Harry Manx: Road Ragas: This CD is a must. Harry is a marvel. This album is bluesy, but he also plays a banjo in a way I never knew possible. He is known for playing the mohan veena, which he does on a couple songs on this album. A live album with perfect acoustics.

The Barn: Here's What's Here
Sometimes I need more time and this is one of those times. While I try to make every effort to produce one review per week, sometimes...I need more time. Here's what I'm working on.

Crate and Barrel: The Listening Room Collection
It took a while for this news to sink into someplace comfy and cozy but it finally has: Leading home furnishings destination Crate and Barrel introduces The Listening Room, featuring exclusive furniture and accessories, cutting edge audio equipment and a curated collection of iconic vinyl recordings through the brand's new partnership with Capitol Records.

The Barn: Connectivity
The red and green lines illustrate separate electrical circuits. All of the network stuff is plugged into the Furman while all of the audio stuff is plugged into the AQ Niagara. This helps keep the noise generated by the network stuff out of the audio stuff.

totaldac d1-integral-headphone music server/DAC
If you've read my reviews of the totaldac d1-tube-mk2 DAC or the d1-dual DAC, you'll know they are among my Favorites. When I received an email from totaldac's Vincent Brient asking if I'd be interested in reviewing his new Roon Ready d1-integral-headphone music server/DAC, I responded, "Yes".

Lovely Recordings Hosted by Mark Chodan
The following is a list of 15 recordings that I enjoy. They are listed in no particular order, and they are simply the first recordings that came to mind. I expect that I will kick myself shortly after sending in this list for leaving out hundreds of other great recordings that I hold in high regard.

Download of the Week: BadBadNotGood
"Listen to this yet?" my good friend Stephen Mejias asked via text message. "It's next in line" was my response. What I meant by that was, no, I have not listened to BadBadNotGood's IV yet but I just added it to my queue on Tidal/Roon.

MOON by Simaudio Neo 280D MiND
Simaudio makes fine-sounding, well-made, and (very) reasonably-priced gear. I'm afraid if this word gets out, they'll wise up and at least quintuple their prices, making them more appealing, ya know...sexy, to a certain sect of audiophiles.

Electrically Isolate Your Networked Audio
I've been thinking about this for years. Literally. I've had any number of people ask, "Have you tried using a Fiber Media Converter?" And I always said, "No, but I plan to." Now I can say, "Why yes, I have tried this and it works wonders."
