Clapton and Johns Team Up And Create Musical and Sonic Magic
At this point in his life and career, Eric Clapton has nothing to prove to anyone but himself. He's gone from being called God on now famous graffiti that embarrassed him but others found justified, to later being called a snooze during a stretch of less than inspiring records and perhaps overexposure.

The Tone Tool Dereneville DTT-02 and Sprocket Turntable
The Tone Tool Sprocket turntable was up and running on set-up day but the complex tangential tracker was still in the box. On day three the arm was set up and running smoothly. It was eye candy supreme but this year there was no way to hear it.

Kronos Adds D.C. Accumulator Power Option For Pro Turntable
esigner Louis Desjardins explains the new D.C. accumulator power supply for the top of the line Pro turntable. Pairs of capacitor banks store power and alternately power the turntable. When one bank's power is depleted, the unit automatically switches to the other bank, while the system replenishes the first one. This effectively removed the 'table from the power grid.

Audio-Technica's "Evolutionary" New ART1000 Phono Cartridge
While the design of Audio-Technica's new ART1000 MC phono cartridge, which affixes the coils atop the stylus, appears revolutionary, in fact it's been done before and quite some time ago.

Reel-to-Reel is Real!
Last year's report here of a rumored new Revox reel-to-reel tape deck proved to be not false but merely premature. This year one was announced by Horch House, the company that reissued the six LP Oscar Peterson Exclusively For My Friends box set.

Miracord Turntables Return
ELAC celebrates 90 years by bringing back the storied Miracord brand (minus Benjamin). The new turntable looks nothing like the old Miracord but do you really want to buy a record changer in 2016? ELAC designed and builds the new 'table. It is not a rebadge or an assemblage of parts bought from other companies (though the cartridge affixing methodology uses a Frank Schroder original design that's been widely copied by many).
