A Visit to Dorado Music Packaging
At last fall's WAX Event at the Capitol Tower I met the owner of Dorado Music Packaging, a company that fabricates among other printed packaging, record jackets and books about music and vinyl.

"Dameronia With Strings" Ferit Odman's Tadd Dameron Tribute Will Wow You
"Too expensive to record to analog tape" we often hear from major label representatives, from producers and from artists. And there are those who don't think the sonics are better or as good as ProTools.

Roy Orbison The M-G-M Years 1965-1973 Box Set First Look
Here's a look at the new Roy Orbison The M-G-M Years 1965-1973 Box Set a thirteen LP set that includes all of Roy's long playing records plus a double LP of singles and unreleased tracks. In this case, the remastering to 192/24 from the original three track tapes through a vintage analog board for the most part produces sonic results superior to the originals.

Analogy Records Sells Only Master Tapes
The label is called "Analogy Records" but for now it doesn't sell records. It only sells "master tapes". How can it do that? It records its artists to multitrack digital at 192/32 bit and then if you order a copy, it mixes down from the multitrack recording to produce an analog master tape that you get.

Stop the Presses! New Presses Coming!
The Toronto, Canada based newspaper The Globe and Mail published a story last Thursday February, 4th about a Canadian company that has invented and is building brand new record presses.

linkDan Hicks R.I.P.
In honor of Dan Hicks, here's "Where's the Money" from the album of the same name, released on Blue Thumb Records (BTS 29) in 1971. Recorded with The Lickettes, live at The Troubadour, February, 1971. This record has been played countless times since 1971 so obviously, it's all worn out and noisy (etc.). Not. Video shot at 1080i with GoPro Hero3.

Correction And Apology
We strive to be factually correct but occasionally make a mistake. A Sundazed representative called to correct a major error and rather than correct it in a tiny box placed inconspicuously on this website (the way newspapers issue corrections), we're putting it here.

More From Bernie Grundman Mastering
Here's more video from Bernie Grundman Mastering, including a tour of head tech Beno May's shop, filled with "cool stuff".
