Norman Pickering's Great-Niece Writes
I just finished reading an article you wrote about Norman Pickering - Guess What Company Norman Pickering Started - that was published last October. I really enjoyed reading it, and was especially moved by the interview.

UMe Clarifies Sources Used For "Soundofvinyl" 1/2 Speed Mastered Series
In a December 19th story, Analogplanet pointed out what appeared to be inaccurate wording in a press release description of the 1/2 speed mastered at Abbey Road LP series. Since Abbey Road does its half-speed mastering exclusively from digital sources, this opening line seemed problematic...

Glenn Frey Proves He's Got the Vocal Chops For A Standards Album
Like Paul McCartney's Kisses on the Bottom, The Eagles' Glenn Frey's standards album was produced with requisite class, though Frey's song choices range wider, covering everything from the 1922 Al Jolson classic "My Buddy" to Brian Wilson's soothing Pet Sounds solo turn "Caroline No" written with Tony Asher.

Why The Beatles WFDU.fm HD2 Show Is No Longer on This Site
My understanding, perhaps incorrect, is that because the radio show aired and is archived for streaming on a radio station that is a signatory to the licensing agreement that allows music to be played on the radio and streamed on the Internet in the first place, that it would be legal for me to put the show on Soundcloud and allow you to hear it.

Another Great Fahey Reprise Album and an Interesting Comparison!
A Fahey track from his previous Reprise album Of Rivers and Religion (MS 2089) was scheduled to post in the next few days, but another version also ripped from vinyl on Youtube got this one posted now.

"New Orleans Shuffle" From John Fahey's 1973 Album "After the Ball"
In 1973 the late guitarist, music historian, fanatical record collector and audiophile John Fahey recorded for Reprise Records the album "After the Ball" (MS 2145)--an album of original and "period" pieces including this track: New Orleans Shuffle by the pianist Bill Whitmore, originally recorded in 1925 by The Halfway House Orchestra.

Keith Monks' New $2500 Record Cleaning Machine Debuts at CES 2016
Jonathan Monks demonstrated the new $2500 Keith Monks record cleaning machine-- to date, the company's least expensive model, but it incorporates many of the high quality components found in the more expensive Monks machines.

This $430 Electric Recording Company Record Mesmerized Listeners at CES 2016
I brought to CES 2016 this £300 Electric Recording Company reissue of Recital Magda Tagliaferro because as well as sharing the experience with friends and colleagues I wanted to watch their reaction to it. Everyone from producer Rick Rubin, to esteemed designer of tube electronics Vladimir Lamm, to Kronos turntable designer Louis Desjardins among others reacted with astonishment. A few applauded. No kidding.

I Try Thinkin' But Nuttin' Happens!
That Curly Howard quote that got me thinking. The comments under the Audio Deske CES 2016 story were puzzling. They seemed to indicate that some readers didn't know what cavitation was, or how the Audio Deske record cleaner works. Had they the knowledge they might not have posted their comments.

New Vinyl Cleaner PRO From Audio Deske Systeme
Audio Desk Systeme and its USA agent Ultra Systems, Inc. announced at CES 2016 the Vinyl Cleaner PRO, the next generation, upgraded edition of its ultrasonic LP cleaning machine, reviewed here.

Big News At Crosley!
Seeing Crosley's C10 turntable at last fall's WAX event in the Capitol Tower parking lot, was a highlight of that record fair. Built for the company by Pro-Ject, the C10 appeared to demonstrate Crosley's commitment to higher quality vinyl playback.

New Technics SL-1200GAE Is Not Your Father's Old Technics SL-1200Mk2
So much nonsense and bitching posted on the Internet about this new turntable, with people claiming it's an SL-1200 Mk2 re-introduction but at a much higher price. It is no such thing. Rather, The Grand Class SL-1200GAE is a completely new turntable, much upgraded from the SL-1200 Mk2 (which cultists foolishly claimed was just about “perfect” and better than what they said were “so-called audiophile turntables).

Audio Research Demos New "Flagship" Reference Phono 3 Phono Preamplifier
The new "flagship" uses six as opposed the previous model's four 6H30 tubes, which results in higher current delivery, a lower noise floor, and thus wider dynamic range. The power supply has been completely re-designed using new transformers, coupling caps and other parts.
