Mo-Fi's "KOB": Kind of Blah? (Updated info in boldface)
Donald Rumsfeld once famously said "You go to war with the army you have not the army you want". While reissuing Miles Davis' iconic Kind of Blue is hardly as consequential as invading a country, in context of our little musical and sonic world it probably is.

Vanessa Fernandez Groove Note Sophomore Effort Coming Spring 2016
Vanessa Fernandez’s first Groove Note release was a terrific record musically and sonically. It must have done well commercially because Groove Note’s (and ORG’s) Ying Tan has planned a follow up extravaganza. When the Levee Breaks (Deluxe Edition) will be a 180g, 45rpm direct-to-lacquer triple LP, triple gatefold set that includes a bonus 12” single.

The David Bowie "Five Years" Box Set Unboxed
The David Bowie box set arrived from Warner Brothers, which distributes it in America, while I was at The Rocky Mountain Audio Festival. A nasty head cold accompanied me home so no point yet to seriously evaluate the sound but it was definitely a good time to unbox the set and having a look.

For vinyl lovers, it’s important to know that Wilson-Benesch first began in 1989 as a start-up dedicated to building a turntable simply because it felt vinyl was a superior medium compared to CD. For that reason alone, the company should be venerated. W-B argued that new, emerging technologies like carbon fiber could further elevate vinyl playback.

Mobile Fidelity Sonically Resurrects Mid-Period Miles
If the iconic Miles Davis album Kind of Blue captured an event--an abrupt musical switch from melody to modal, these three mid-period quintet albums, Sorcerer (1967), Nefertitti (1968) and Filles De Kilimanjaro (1969) represent a period of transition as the quintet moves slowly towards Miles’s amplified instrument embrace.

Impassioned Lovers Wrestle As One (Pianist)!
Igor Stravinsky was the original rock'n'roller and if you don't think so, you don't know rock'n'roll or Stravinsky! Stravinsky arranged "Le Sacre Du Printemps" (The Rite of Spring), "Petrouchka" and other ballets for both orchestra and four handed piano.

Electronic stylus cleaners have been around for decades. Though very popular in the 1970s and 1980s, these vibrating devices rapidly fell out of favor for a very good reason.
