Hello Friends,
I am new to this forum. I do not know Greek, I hope it is okay to write in English here ?
Basically, I am also huge fan of Tannoy speakers, especially the Prestige series speakers. Before Tannoy I was using ATC and it was also very nice. But today I only listen through Tannoy. I use a Turnberry SE.
Currently I am exploring amplifiers for the Tannoy. I tried Naim and it sounded nice. Some of my friends suggested I should look for tubes. When I explore tubes I realise there are many types of topologies and each has its own strength and weakness. Push-pull amps have more power and more headroom. Single ended triode amps have less power but more direct sound. I tried my Tannoy with a Wavac EC-300B amplifier. It has only 10 watts and uses 300B tubes. The Tannoy sounds amazing but some times I feel I need more dynamics. Can someone tell how much power a Tannoy really needs to be happy and play all kinds of music well in a medium size (200 sqft) listening room ?
